Tell us a little about yourself.
When I started writing and
speaking 16 years ago, I felt like I could
help other moms run their homes more smoothly,
raise good kids, build a family team, balance
competing time demands, etc. by sharing some
things I had learned through a lot of research
and even more trial-and-error. I felt pretty
confident about my message because the principles
and strategies were working, so far, in my
own family. At that time, I had been married
for 16 years, and my boys were ages 13, 9,
and 2.
I founded a company (Family Manager Inc.)
to inform, inspire and equip women in their
valuable role as Mom and Family Manager.
What does being a Mom mean to you?
Being a Mom means more than being a wife
and parent—it also means being the
accountant, building manager, chauffer, cook,
event planner, gardener, housekeeper, interior
designer, organizer, and personal shopper—just
to name a few of the roles that come along
with the territory!
What do working moms need to know
about managing a family?
A good manager knows that success depends
on teamwork. You’ve got your very own
in-house players, but you’ll need to
know the methods to get your kids and spouse
to help around the house. This is where you
need practical advice and encouragement to
get them motivated and keep them going. There
are easy to implement ways to:
- Conquer clutter and keep up with housework
- Reduce arguing and promote peace
- Stop procrastinating
- Carve out time every day for things
that matter most
- Be the wife, mother, friend and neighbor
God wants you to be
And of course, save time, money and your
sanity!
Why
did you write The
Family Manager Takes Charge: Getting
on the Fast Track to a Happy, Organized
Home?
My goal for writing this
book is part of my over-arching goal and
what I feel is my God-given purpose: to strengthen
families and help busy moms make their home
a great place to be. I am constantly looking
for ways to get helpful information into
the hands of busy moms. I do this through
writing books and magazine articles, speaking
at conferences and conventions, plus I do
a ton of television and radio interviews.
(Over 100 in the past 2 months.)
Tell us about your favorite Family
Manager success story.
Last summer my husband and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary, our kids are
29, 25, and 18, we have a very close, loving family. I feel like now I can
say with unflinching authority: I know this stuff works!
